I first sought out therapy in order to work on anxiety, and help with managing relationship conflict. I was looking for someone who was accessible to me, and who worked with my blend of background issues. Sara’s approach to counseling is extremely versatile. Her primary approach with me has been Emotionally Focused therapy, but she has also done work with Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Deep Relaxation and Hypnosis. Sara tailors her approach based on the needs observed during our session, and often follows up with resources, such as books, articles, and videos. She demonstrates understanding and empathy with a variety of experiences, and offers insight and alternative interpretations, opening the door to connect ideas, or explore experiences or emotions in a safe and supportive environment. In addition to her professional qualifications, Sara’s personality shows incredible warmth and caring. She recalls and inquires about details of my ongoing narrative, and is really good at drawing attention to my successes and positive qualities. Over the course of our work together, I have learned and grown in my capacity to manage the issues that prompted me to seek help, as well as other issues that have come up or that I have discovered in the course of counseling. Finding the right person for counseling can be tricky, but I feel confident that Sara would be a good match for a variety of personalities and needs.
